Reviews

The singer's the same, but the tune's changing somewhat. GG Allin, Manchester's bad boy of rock, has a new four song tape out that signals a move from out and out punk to heavy metal. GG says he's cleaned up his act — he's had the plug pulled on his show in clubs throughout New England — and he's aiming for airplay and acceptance. The music is still far from mild — the new tape includes "Live Fast, Die Fast" and "Livin' Like An Animal" — but he's put in the studio time to produce a decent sound, and this time around he may make it. Al Chapple plays bass and lead guitar on the songs and GG plays the drums. The tape is available at Innerlight Records in Manchester.

Easily the most disagreeable task associated with this job is the inevitable chore of looking yet another GG Allin release in the mouth.

This advance peek at four tunes intended for general release soon is another reasonable effort from the loathesome Allin. Does Manchester have a Shepherd’s Bush area?

Look for this to be issued on vinyl all too soon on Sweden’s Black & Blue label out of Stockholm, it sez here.

“Live Fast, Die Fast” and “Live Like An Animal” are likely crowd-pleasers that sound rather more middle of the hardcore road than previous releases. Sounds better for one thing. Not more polished, certainly.

The power’s just a bit more intently focused. GG Allin with production??? Ridiculous.

Allin’ll be at the Living Room soon. So be sure to watch for that event and get there early. His shows tend to be quite short. You can buy the record anyway. And maybe you should. Hard to say.
